Volumes have been written on the art of negotiating—with more certain to come. Especially in real estate, it will always remain an open-ended discussion because of the infinite variety of personalities, motives, and the properties themselves. Rules are useful as starting points only—especially when it comes to Costa Mesa real estate transactions. They require weighty financial decisions rife with seemingly irreversible lifestyle consequences. That’s a combination which combines to make it a tricky proposition to keep emotions off the table.

Success in negotiating the sale of a home can sometimes result after a bad start—but it’s more of a longshot. That’s why it’s generally a good idea to let experienced agents handle the communications

If that sounds familiar, it could be one generalization that’s no longer quite so valid when it comes to younger adults—specifically, about their prospects for owning their own Costa Mesa homes.

If we are to believe the Pew Research Center, younger American households are doing pretty well. In fact, they’re doing better than their elders were at the same time in their youthful careers. Although you can argue that Costa Mesa homes’ prices have risen as well, when you remember how close today’s home loan interest rates are to historical lows, the outlook for owning

If you find yourself suddenly revisiting the idea of buying a home in Costa Mesa, it won’t surprise you that you’re not alone. Lately, it’s seemed as if the stars are continuing to align to draw more and more people—first timers as well as those who are already Costa Mesa homeowners—to make that decision. Last week ended with yet another inducement to point people in that direction.

The impetus didn’t arise from any local Costa Mesa real estate event—although the traditional residential real estate busy season always helps spur activity. It came with an unexpected stock market rally that was universally attributed to an increase in the odds that the Federal Reserve was all but certain not just to hold interest rates steady—but to actually

On Friday, Costa Mesa’s real estate outlook ended the busy month with a genuine surprise—one that could well augur an extension of Costa Mesa real estate’s traditional peak selling season. The news was significant enough to move from financial sections to front pages and bottom-of-the-screen crawls on cable channels. Atop the Mortgage News Daily broke the story:

“Mortgage Rates Drop Well into the High 3’s”

Even local residents who rarely pay attention to the nuts and bolts of Costa Mesa real estate matters would likely have done a double-take at the “3’s” in that news flash. The “low home loan interest rate” phenomenon has been old news for quite a while, but those historically low rates have hovered in the 4’s since 2017. Since even tiny
